A propos de Ghislain Allard en français

ACMG assistant Rock guide

«I met Ghislain at Mont King in Val David in the early 2000s. Instantly I noticed his generosity, good mood and his infatuation towards climbing. During the years I have had the pleasure of sharing several climbing days and trips with Ghislain which has strengthened our friendship. I consider him as my brother. As a passionate about climbing since 1996 Ghislain broadened his horizon and developed his expertise through several trips (Squamish, Indian Creek, Spain, Mexico, Cuba to mention a few) but also by practicing different types of climbing (cracks, trad, sport, bouldering, deep water soloing, ice). Ghislain is also a climber who invests himself a lot in the sport. He is an instructor examiner with the FQME and organizes and participates in several crag maintenance events with the Club des Montagnards Laurentiens. As a climbing instructor and a resident of Val-David for about ten years Ghislain has transmitted his passion for climbing to hundreds of people. He is probably one of the climbers with the most knowledge of the Laurentians and in particular Val-David. If you are interested in climbing in the area north of Montreal, Ghislain is your man! Ghis, thanks for letting me use your basement as a base camp during all these years.»

Ghislain has been climbing since 1996 and teaching since 2002. He has established a few new rock climbing routes in the Laurentians (ranging from 5.6 to 5.11), but since he is not a person searching for glory he has put a lot of time into re-equipping and cleaning old routes. Youy may not find his name in the guide book, but you have probably climbed one of the routes that have undergone his rejuvenating work. He has climbed in several areas of Canada, around Quebec, Lion’s Head in Ontario and Squamish in British Columbia. He has also climbed at different sites in the US and around the world including Shawangunks, Cathedral Ledge, Rumney, Cannon Cliff, Mount Washington, Adirondacks, Red River Gorge, New River Gorge, Indian Creek, Zion National Park, Jushua Tree, Red Rocks, Boulder, Vinales in Cuba, Potrero Chico in Mexico and Mallorca in Spain.
